Who knew The Rock could be such a good actor. In this remake of Die Hard he plays a guy trying to rescue his family from a building taken over by a group of terrorists. Not only does he do it but he does it well!
Skyscraper had me on the edge of my seat and actually clapping when the movie was over! Kudos to you Dwane. One again I smelled what you were cooking and once again I liked it!!

I haven’t seen any of the more recent ones but I was a huge fan of the first. Ocean’s Eleven (the one with Frank, Sammy, Dean, etc) was true Hollywood at its best. Ocean’s Eight was a similar story. A big heist at its best. I’m guilty of not knowing all of the superstars involved but maybe that’s what made it even better.
Ocean’s Eight was a really good movie. Kept you on your toes until the end!

Growing up I was always a huge Mr. Rodger’s fan. This movie jus showed me why. The story of how and why he did all of the great things he did was all put together in one place. The puppets, the characters, the behind the scenes stuff was a wrapped in one neat bow (tie!)
Fred Rodgers had a huge place in my life. See this movie and if he didn’t already have a huge place in yours, he will! He can live next to me anytime he wants!

Being in a wheelchair and a quadriplegic myself, I was psyched to see this movie from the time I saw the trailer. Let’s just say it did not disappoint! It takes place in the future. The guys wife is killed in a car crash and he is left a quadriplegic in a wheelchair. One of his clients before he was hurt was a billionaire tech-guy. He invented this thing he could put in his spine to let him walk. It goes on from there but let’s just say it’s very exciting.
Imagine Terminator meets RoboCop meets Death Wish.

I went in having seen all (or most) of the other Avenger movies before this one.  Even watched Superman last night.  There was way too much CGI and not enough of the actors.  The story was pretty straightforward.  A bad guy wants to take over the world and they want to stop him.  There was a lot of back story going on.  He hates this one.  Those two are a couple.  Just too much for me to keep track of.
I can’t say I didn’t like it but it wasn’t made for someone who wasn’t an Avengers pro.  when it’s released with a director’s track to explain it all to me, I’m sure I will enjoy it much more.  **MOVIEPASS HAS CHANGED THEIR TERMS.  YOU ARE NOW ALLOWED TO SEE EACH MOVIE ONLY ONCE!**  Not sure if this is the finale or if there will be any more.  This didn’t really wap it all up.  There are still a lot of unanswered questions.  It was better then good just not as great as it could have been.

It’s The Rock.  Again!  In a movie with a preview for his next.  Has Hollywood run out of leading men?  When’s the last time you met a guy who was fluent in sign language with gorillas, was a decorated war hero, knew how to fly helicopters and managed to have a body like The Rock?!  When I get a splinter, it’s hurts like hell.  He gets shot and just “walks it off!”
It was entertaining, the story was ok and the movie wasn’t too long.  I smell what The Rock is cooking.  What he’s cooking here is a movie that was just ok.  That’s for me, a 50 year old man.  Maybe if I was a 13 year old boy, it’s the next Indiana Jones!

A Quiet Place

I like to know what I’m getting in for. Who’s after me? What I did wrong? Is there anything I can do to make it better? All of those things were my problems with A Quiet Place. Who are these people? Why are they alone? What happened to get them there?
Thankfully I didn’t get popcorn because there wasn’t a chance to eat it throughout the whole movie. I felt guilty enough with just the sound of my Whoppers rolling around in the box! Jim from The Office has come a long way from his days with Pam.
It’s easy to scare someone by just saying, “Boo!” That’s pretty much the whole thing that’s scary about this movie. Not bad. Not great!

I thought it was going to be the story about what happened at Chappaquiddick.  Instead it turned into some good publicity for the memory of Teddy Kennedy.  Nothing about the affair.  Nothing about drunk driving.  Nothing about his trying to cover it all up.  It was almost as it the Kennedy family had produced the movie and just wanted the good parts told.  OK we all now can see that Jim Gaffigan can do more than just tell jokes but the story seemed too slanted away from everything that I remember about the whole incident.  It wasn’t a bad movie but it just wasn’t the documentary that it made itself out to be.

It was Speilberg so I knew to expect something good.  Just look at the guy’s track record and you know anything he makes is going to be good.  He did it again.  This time he took us for a trip into the land of virtual reality.  Just by him doing so, the future of virtual reality or any other similar technology took 10 steps forward.  The characters were simple.  The plot was predictable but the story was enough to keep me entertained.

I never saw the original so I had nothing to compare this to but on its own this was a pretty good movie.  Lara Croft is trying to make it on her own.  She is a street fighter, bicycle messenger and all around tough young girl.  The secret is she’s worth millions of dollars  if she will just sign a paper admitting her father is dead. She believes different.  It’s been seven years and she still has faith he’s alive.
She decides to pawn the jade necklace he gave her and go to search for him.  It turns out she is right.  He has been hiding on an island trying to stop people from entering a hidden tomb that holds the secret to life itself.  After somehow getting there and finding him, she manages to break the “code” that opens the tomb and finds out what the secret really is.  Instead of being the cure to save humanity, it turns out it is a disease that if released will kill the world.  There are two teams involved here.  Lara, her father and all of the good guys.  The other team is made up of the ‘bad” guys who want to get at the secret and turn it into a fortune.  Together they make it into the tomb and find out what the secret really is.  Lara is the only one to make it out alive and all is taken care of.
After returning home and finally signing the papers, it turns out the company that is owned by Lara and her father, Croft Holdings, are the ones who are making all of the weapons being used to try to break into the tomb.  The woman who is running the company is really the one who is trying to take over the world.  A little preconceived but it works.  Overall, a pretty entertaining movie.

Excitement from beginning to end.  Also, unbelievable from beginning to end!  sometimes you don’t need big names to make an entertaining movie.  There was noone in this movie I was familiar with (not like that list is very long).  Two brothers start out the movie fleeing a hurraicaine with their father.  He tries to save their lives while trying to free their stuck truck.  He is killed by a flying piece of debris while the house they are sheltered in blows away.  They aren’t even hurt just incase you were worried.
     Fast forward 15years and…

Death Wish

7.5 Out of 10

Now is one of those times that i wish that i was a better writer.  Death Wish was a really good movie.  Entertaining from the beginning to the end.  The story was simple and easy to follow and it was just an easy, no brainer to sit there to watch and be entertained.  Bruce Willis is not the greatest actor ever but he wants revenge on the gang who plotted the robbery of his house, killed his wife, stole all of his things and put his daughter into a coma.  You know he is going to get it!
Willis plays a surgeon who works in the emergency room of a hospital in the South Side of Chicago so he is no stranger to violence.  But, When it hits his house, he’s out for revenge.  And revenge is exactly what he gets!  he becomes a self-made vigilante and hunts down the murderer of his wife all while managing to hold down his job as head of the emergency room in the biggest hospital.  I said it was entertaining, I didn’t say it was believable!  He becomes a one man killing force who is able to solve the crime that Chicago’s police can’t and gets the revenge that he needs.  Enjoyable, yes.  Believable not so much.

Confusing science fiction movie that really wasn’t very good.  Not too much more to say about it other then that.  A woman tries to rescue her husband from some kind of virus that is attacking the world.  The biggest problem is that we find out that she’s secretly having an affair with another guy who works at her company.  So why even bother?  That is kind of how I felt when I was leaving the theater after this movie was over, why even bother?

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Early Man.  Was it going to be a kids movie just because it was animated?  I knew it was made by the same people who mae Wallace & Grommit.  A series of shorts and movies that I was familiar existed but didn’t know much more about them.  It turned out to be quite an enjoyable movie aimed towards kids but fitting for adults too.  The story of a kid trying not only to rescue his vilage but his entire way of life at the same time.  And how does he do it?  All by a simple soccer game.  It delt with issues of vanity, sexuality, greed and many other things all while keeping it very simple.  It was there if you wanted to see it and not there if you didn’t.  Overall, a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

The newest of the Marvel series of comic books turned into movies, I thought that Black Panther was just allright.  Nothing special.  It had the crazy special effects that I expected and of course the mandatory appearance of Stan Lee.  There was nothing that I found really took this movie to the next level…

From the poster it looked like it was going to be a remake of The Creature From the Black Lagoon.  It couldn’t have been anything more different.  It was the story of a cleaning woman who worked at a top-secret government lab where some really shady stuff is going on.  She also happens to be deaf.  One of the things happening in this lab is a fish-man…

Here we go again.  It’s the story between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs again.  Maybe it’s because of my age but I felt like this is a story that didn’t really need to be told again.  I’m not a 12 year old girl who wants to see Tina Fey and Steve Carrell (both who did a great job) tell me a story that I already know.  I remember seeing both of the real athletes play themselves on The Odd Couple.  I remember seeing the story on Wide World of Sports and all over the place.  This, for me, was just a story that I didn’t need to hear again.  There were a few interesting tidbits that I didn’t know which I found…

Another Tom Cruise movie.  I always died seeing them but I am usually pleasantly surprised at how good they are.  Going all the way back to Risky Business, including Jerry McGuire (You had me at hello!) and all of the Mission Impossible ones, I wanted to hate them all but they were all pretty solid movies.  That was not the case with American Made.  Why?  It was a story that didn’t really need to be told. Especially when we live in the time of Amazon Prime and great series like Narcos, this was just something that just didn’t need to be said…
